【英文謬誤】Don't even think about it. 不是「不用想太多」，是「門兒都沒有」，about跟of的差別

到海外出差的Tom開車到目的地，不確定某個地方能不能停車，便用手勢加眼神暗示警衛：能不能把車停在這裡？

警衛說“Don’t even think about it!”

Tom以為是：「不用想太多」停就對了，結果警衛這次更雙手擺出X的大手勢，他才知道原來誤會了”Don’t think about it.”

Don’t think about it.

(X) 不用想太多

(X) 沒想過

(O) 不用做白日夢了、省省吧、不可能的、不行

這句話屬於蠻強硬的拒絕，叫人想都不用想。

E.g. It’s illegal to park here. Don’t even think about it!

停在這裡不合法，想都別想了。

think about跟think of有什麼差別

think about跟think of概括來說是可以相互交換的，但是還是有一些差別，think of是一瞬間想到；think about 是一段時間考慮。

我考慮一下

(X) Let me think of it.

(O) Let me think about it.

我沒想到那個方式

(X) I never thought about that way.

(O) I never thought of that way.

of是想法從外到內，時間很短，資訊少；about是想法從自己開始發散，由內而外，資訊多

hear about、hear of是聽說還是聽到？

hear of是問你知不知道某件事物存在；hear about是你本來就知道，而且得到更詳細的資訊。

hear of=become aware of someone or something’s existence

hear about=be informed of, gain knowledge of

Have you heard of Apple?

你聽過Apple這家公司嗎？

意思就是指：你知道apple這家公司嗎？

Have you heard about Apple?

你聽說了Apple了嗎？

意思就是指：你聽說了apple最近的新聞嗎？
