Another comment mentioned trucking as an important tipping point, and there are several other industries that may collapse or revolutionize from the advent of AVs as well… like legal services.

Traffic accidents, parking tickets, and all manners of car related crime will no longer exist in the world you described. In many ways, the traditional car is the greatest enabler of crime. So not only will millions of truckers be out of work, we should expect millions of people in law enforcement and legal services to find themselves out of work as well.

What will happen to society when AVs become mainstream is truly the question of the next decade.
