FILLED AND CONSTANTLY GUIDED

2 Peter 1:17 NKJV
For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

From before His birth to His ascension, Jesus Christ had a life full of supernatural experiences. Some where spectacular in nature, and others were just ordinarily supernatural! God the Father severally glorified Jesus to give witness to His Sonship; strengthen Him at the face of adversity; and to pass a message to those around Him at certain occasions, among others. In all those moments, the Lord remained humble before the Father. For "...The Spirit of knowledge and of the [reverential and obedient] fear of the LORD" (Isa 11:2 AMP) worked in Him powerfully and without end.

Apart from glorifying His Son at His Baptism, God drew another line between Him and the others at the Mount of transfiguration. Simon Peter would recall that moment and say, "For He [Jesus] received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased'", as in our text today. Notice, while Jesus already possessed "...the glory as of the only begotten of the Father" (Joh 1:14 NKJV), God deemed it fit to give Him more "honour and glory" from time to time. Hallelujah!

As a result, Christ went about "...doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil" (Act 10:38 NKJV). In much the same way, while we received the Holy Spirit upon believing in Jesus (Joh 7:37-39), the Word says to keep being "...filled with the [Holy] Spirit and constantly guided by Him" (Eph 5:18 AMP). Hallelujah! That is partly what will keep us "...fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, [and] given to hospitality" (Rom 12:11-13 NKJV). How then do we get filled with the Spirit? Jesus said, ask God to fill you with Him (Luk 11:13).
