I used to ban such things from my classes, but then I realized that I’m being forced to be a cell phone or laptop police. If you aren’t paying attention, that’s your perogative, but I’m not going to spend my time trying to make you pay attention. I do talk a lot about being “here” when you are in the classroom, but after that, it’s up to them. I agree that it’s a problem — I’ve even noticed it myself. Now, pardon me but I have to text my wife.
