You shunned me and kept me out of your mind
There is no other to tell you love is blind
Girl, I’m only here to tell you the truth
There is no other I care to woo
You’ve got me wandering out on my own
I’ve always been there when your tears have sewn
You are the lock and I am the key
Close your eyes and you will see
You are the lock and I am the key

Long does he work, but headway is most nil
A shark who lost his precious dorsal fin
No sleep, no coin for his gut to fill
His life, his art, stolen, leads to famine

Without and stale, he utters unto thee
“A fate so cruel I wish upon no man -
traversing this eldritch plane by the sea,
waters so black, now I am the deadpan”

Soulless a man, for he had no copper
Alas, this be the fate of the pauper

People at the park look to the sky
The children, run, scream, and hide,
when the birds fly by
As the world is set ablaze,
the past lost to flame,
those on the hill sip their wine
The people below, condemned to die,
as the birds fly by

The story, as it is told,
twice, that old Sun rose,
and the light — pure and bright,
purged the sands of eighty-thousand souls,
and all that remained,
were shadows and ghosts
blackened walls,
and haunted halls
When the order,
came from above,
it was just American love
That old bastard justified,
why so many had to die
Women and children,
lost their lives
Men and boys,
mourned mothers and wives
However, this wasn’t the last,
for another dawn would come to pass
back in the day, as it was told,
thrice, that old Sun rose
and the light — pure and bright,
soaked in flame– across the velvet brine

As Death takes us one-by-one, sometimes in droves
There is no place on God’s green Earth you can hide,
not in the deserts, nor mountains, nor those beautiful coves
However, there is one thing Man can do, open his heart and confide

“O’ daddy I’m coming home,
and son this isn’t good-bye,
just take my hand, I don’t want to be alone,
Don’t cry, don’t cry — we’re all gonna die”

It was then we heard the tolling bell,
and that is when Death took him away
Some say life is good, and others hell
Either way, neither will get me to pray

For him, this was the end
A souvenir forever kept pristine
It matters not if he was foe or friend,
Poor Pauline, poor Pauline

As the Sun rose at dusk,
and the night turned bright,
those of faith, easily crushed,
fraught with Israeli might

As dawn met the night,
their siege ran no rest
Many would hide,
but on the Strip, little is left

When I heard the news,
there came tear-stained eyes,
mourning for Arabs and Jews,
innocent souls met their demise

I lay a rose,
for the missing boys and girls
I lay a rose,
for the sixty young lost souls

When the soldiers hear the call,
and their mamas say goodbye,
Questions arise, “will my young boy fall?”
“Why did they send him to die?”

From the politicians’ mouths, they cry,
“For God and country”
And the men, young and brawny, are sent to die
Arriving in the desert, the mission to defend industry

With rifles drawn, villages meet the slaughter
The children say goodbye
Questions arise, “why my son, why my daughter?”
There in the desert sands children die

For when the news breaks,
exposing the great American lie
the deadpan-faced snakes,
will shed a tear when stakes are high

A new president takes office, one of hope
“On terrorism, I call war!”
To another country, the parents mourn and cope
For what’s one more, what’s one war more?
