What Gutenberg and Snapchat Have in Common

Jeff Jarvis’ explanation of Gutenberg and how “the times they are a-changin’” was fascinating! Personally, I kind of like the idea of news and information being free and open to anyone without a need for ownership. That’s the beauty of the internet as a community. We should start thinking collaboratively instead of the “me, me, me!” mindset. During class, Jeff said “The network is smarter than any one person.”

  1. One challenge I foresee with my community is how to bring them together as “one”. I think the ‘busking’ community is very spread out and probably individualistic in many ways. Competition between buskers may be one of the reasons why they are not the closest-knit community.
  2. Networking and communication is probably the best way to break down those barriers. By building an online network of engaged buskers, I think it could make a huge difference in how this community interacts with each other.
