On social media, I often run across lists of possible chores for children. I especially like the ones put together for families a century or more ago, including potential toddler options like hauling firewood or dusting baseboards. My immediate response is to chuckle at the idea of my three year old daughter doing these things, but then I start to wonder, “Am I letting her off too easy?” After all, she probably could carry around small pieces of wood if I asked her to.
