PAUL, THE NEFARIOUS PEACE LILY: POISONOUS HOUSEHOLD PLANTS AND HOW TO DEAL WITH THEM

Very early on in my relationship with my husband, well before marriage or kids or houses, I decided that we should each get a plant to spruce up (pun intended) his then-current Chicago condo. I went to the local gardening store and picked out something dainty and pretty with lots of flowers (probably an orchid of some sort, but I barely remember). He walked across the street to the local Jewel grocery store and bought the one living plant hidden within a forest of cut-stemmed flowers.
