China’s Ethereum Classic Consortium has scheduled the first ever ETC Hackathon for February 24 through 26, 2017.
ETCathon will take place at the China Financial Information Center in Shanghai. Sponsors include the BTC China exchange, CHBTC exchange and Digital Currency Group. Mining entrepreneur Chandler Guo’s infrastructure platform ETCwin has signed on as a co-organizer.
The Ethereum Classic Consortium has been attempting to bridge the gap between ETC communities in Chinese and English speaking regions. Roy Zou, Chairman of the Board of Directors, is in the process of providing business development for the Fundonomy initiative, overseen by London-based developer Avtar Sehra.
BTC China previously announced that the Shanghai-based Bitcoin exchange will make Ethereum Classic token trading available to customers, while no such plans are in place to support ETH trading. While the service is not yet available, the exchange began mining ETC on the 19th of December.
Sponsor Digital Currency Group recently unveiled their Ethereum Investment Trust, deriving value solely from the ETC blockchain. The branding of the trust sparked controversy and calls from Consensys LLC members to dissuade ETC entrepreneurs from branding their products “Ethereum” technologies.
The Lujiazui Blockchain Financial Development Alliance will supervise the ETCathon event, following the group’s October Blockchain Summit at the Shanghai financial district.
