A Grand Tour: The NY Art Book Fair

What happens when the world’s best art book publishers and zine-makers take over an entire museum? We took a field trip up to Printed Matter’s eleventh annual NY Art Book Fair at the MoMA Ps1 to find out. At yesterday’s preview event, we navigated the crowds of art book-lovers (estimated at 35,000 attendees last year), flipped through our favorite zines, discovered some new treasures, and left the fair with our tote bags packed with new zines and prints from our favorite artists. Our friends at LAZY MOM, exhibitors at the fair and this week’s Classic Stories feature, described the fair as a “summer camp for books” — and from what we saw yesterday, they’re exactly right. If you’re in NYC, we highly recommend joining in on the Art Book Fair, which runs through this weekend until Sunday, September 18th.
