My depression had different roots than yours but what helped the most, I discovered in my 50’s. I wish for you to discover it earlier in your own life.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) combines acupressure and psychology for an effect many more times effective than talk therapy alone. It heals the trauma from your body as well as your psyche.

You may want to “keep” some of the trauma to fuel your art. No problem, with EFT you can keep as much or as little as you want — whatever best serves you.

One caveat — while following recordings (just search on EFT or Tapping) is a great introduction, I found much greater improvement once I started working with an EFT practitioner.

PS — my bi-racial adopted-into-a-white-family daughter found EFT to be especially helpful in empowering her to step beyond the “someone threw me away” feelings and into marriage and motherhood.
