How many times have you seen a TikTok, a Reels, a Facebook post… whatever, of somebody sharing their self-care routine looking perfect. Waking up early in the morning, exercising with a matching set, meditating, reading… You get the point.

A lot of times, more than you can count with your fingers for sure.

(This article will be written using a lot of she, mainly because I am writing from my experience and trying to make it as honest as it can get. But it is just as useful for any gender you identify with.)

The myth of envy

Usually, when seeing these posts we find ourselves thinking ‘Oh, she’s just perfect. I bet she is very happy and has a perfect life.’ That voice-over we have for life, in a slip second just idealized this girl, as if you couldn’t do it too.

This sort of envy is not bad. We often feel guilty around it, because of this stigma we all helped build. That it makes you a bad person and you should feel ashamed. Well, I prefer a more innocent approach to envy and invite you to try it too.

Envy is our heart telling us what we want, so if I see a girl posting this routine and feel envy, I automatically think…
