The lifestyle of a millennial is often dynamic, collaborative and creative. In addition to that, when it comes to designing their living spaces, our young millennials want to be actively involved in the process. They are very selective about the things that they own, always wanting a piece of themselves in each and every item they purchase and they are in dire need to be socially connected.

With this millennial mindset taken into account, businesses involved in furniture design has begun adapting the styles that are leaning towards customization and portability. And a variety of home accessories can be bought online, from personalized sofas to themed cabinet hinge.

So if you are one from this generation and would like to decorate your own space, here are some notes on things to look for when designing your own living spaces.

LIVING ROOM

It is important to have stylish, quality sofa as well as a coffee table with ample storage, so you might want to splurge on those pieces. This is because most millennial homes have relatively small spaces. As most millennials are comfortable with their phones, getting access to their favorite TV shows and movies, television sets are no longer a priority, unless maybe you want your own TV set with speakers and players — needs more space for this.

BEDROOM

Bedrooms are the most relaxing place of all, and most private as well. However, since rented spaces are usually small, living rooms and bedrooms are sometimes built together. In order to save space, consider looking for customized, multifunctioning sets of furniture such as sofa beds that can be used as sofa during the day and then become your sleeping quarters at night.

DINING ROOM

Again, some spaces will not allow full set dining spaces nowadays. Consider looking for foldable chairs and tables that are still classy or cute, depending on your personality. Refrain from buying designs that are made of breakable materials such as glass and the heavy ones. Remember you may always find yourself moving from one place to another so lighter, portable materials are ideal for you.

KITCHEN AREA

Maybe the kitchen area is the most important since this is where you put all your stuffs for survival. It is where you cook for instance. Making this place fully functional while using as little space as possible is a hard task. Consider checking kitchen cabinet design ideas and look for something that is multi-functional as well. Most designs will find the cabinet hinges as the key for utilizing spaces at its full. It seems that kitchen cabinets with soft close hinges works best.

In general, consider having a neutral color palette in your furniture, the grays and the whites work wonders as it can easily blend with the accessories that you would soon want to take over your living spaces. Millennials like a clean, modern look but they are torn because they want to mix styles in order to achieve the perfect representation of themselves in the place where they live.
