Selling the Clay Dixon Brand

I am passionate about the Disney brand and know that this is a company I want to work for forever. I love my entertainment role and have learned a variety of new skill sets when it comes to performing. However, since my dream is to work in the communications field here, I know these skills won’t be enough. Consequently, I began attending Disney’s professional development workshop series.

I have already completed six classes on professionalism, interviews, networking, resume building, presentations and personal branding. The most important thing I took away from these workshops was the significance of networking. I learned that if I can positively portray my personal brand to the right leaders and impress them, I might have a shot at getting an interview for a professional internship or entry-level position.

Attending these classes was a great overview for entering my career field. More importantly, great insight was given about what Disney was specifically looking for. I now feel more confident when thinking about applying to jobs, specifically within the Disney company. Whether it be with Disney Parks, Disney Cruise Line, Walt Disney Studios, or even ESPN, I feel more prepared for entering the corporate world.

I encourage all of my followers to attend classes in order to further professional development. What skills do you think are most important when applying for a new position?

The courses offered through Disney not only teach valuable skills, but prepare students for life in the real world.
