Your assessment makes sense if you assume social attitudes similar to today. The pushback against the current dominant platforms is not significant at present. People generally don’t have a problem with Facebook, Twitter, Apple and Amazon. Will this attitude towards acceptance of an oligarchy of economic activity? Will there be a social phenomenon that creates a change of attitude. I don’t know, but I doubt it.

Technology has created the beginning of an economic dispersal curve not unlike the standard innovation curve. Most activity happens in the mature phase. There will be platforms or economic options that will fade away because of obsolescence or mismanagement … and new ones will take there place. I can see this happening similar to that of of social media. However, there will always be places to go for innovators and early adopters. This is pretty much the case with anything. An awful lot of people are ‘sheep.’
