I want to measure my life in the trees I’ve planted.
The Five Pledges I Took To Make My Life Matter
Jon Westenberg

Comparing your life accomplishments to an eventual row (forest?) of trees is a really nice mental model for thinking about the meaning you get from your work:

Am I getting my hands dirty for something important? (Planting)

Is it significant enough that it requires ongoing tending to succeed? (Watering)

Can it benefit others as it matures? (Growing)

Could it provide real nourishment for myself and others? (Bearing Fruit)

Could it eventually help spread new ideas and work beyond itself? (Seeding)

Hmm, I may have to piggy-back this for an article…looks like you jumped straight to the Seeding stage! :)
