Day 1…

Bleary eyed but keen to explore our “locals only" area of Wutthakat, we set off in search of breakfast and towards the many landmarks we could see from our bed.

It’s such a lovely neighbourhood, calm, quiet, and pretty by Bangkok standards.

After another mouth scorching dish on this pretty street of Wat Nak Prot, we meandered through backstreets towards Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen with its ornate pillars and emerald green temple.

On the way up the treasured filled floors we came across our Chinese zodiak animals and couldn’t resist goofing beside them.

(old skool acupuncture diagrams, needles and models — although Clay was certain that they we for voodoo. Certain.)

We finally made it up to the top floor to be greeted by this delight.

WOWZER.

Every single image on the walls and ceiling were slightly different, depicting local trees and animals.

Animals were kind of the theme of the day, actually…

(one of the entrances at Wat Khun Jan)

We weren’t entirely sure what to make of this lot, to be honest. They were enough to send us back home to the pool, where we started our much need Thai language classes.

Pretty certain any locals that over heard us were pissing themselves, but we didn’t care.

Clays attention span was somewhat gnat like, so I resorted to repeating phrases very loudly at him in the hope that it would sink in that way.

Chan rak koon, Fowler.
