Trawling Narragansett Bay

Clean Water Action
Jul 24, 2017 · 1 min read

Last week, Clean Water Action trawled Narragansett Bay for microplastic pollution. As we have continued to push out more and more plastic products into our economy, we have seen a corresponding increase in marine debris and plastic pollution in our oceans. By reducing the amount of plastic that enters the waste stream, we can reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in our neighborhoods and waters.

With this trawl, we hope to show that plastic pollution isn’t just an issue in the middle of the ocean, it’s a problem right here in our own waters. We will use these findings to help build support for source reduction policies and strategies at the local and state levels here in Rhode Island.

So follow along on our adventure and be sure to share and retweet and ask us questions!
