I think it is strategic. Chase moved into Miami-Dade county with a vengeance a couple years ago and bought or built dozens of branches. They then offered $200-$500 to switch and the convenience of a branch next to every 7–11. They sucked up the market and guess what? One by one every other branch is closing down.
