That is not my personal experience with my children in Miami-Dade public schools. My 9 year old and my 6 year old are being taught this way and it is working very well. All of my son’s teachers have been able to get the concepts across to him over the last few years, so not sure what the problem is with teachers teaching this way, because our personal experience is that it is working very well.

I actually seem to have taught myself some of these methods, but the day I realized they were teaching my child the little “tricks” I’ve been using in my head all these years, was the day I said hallelujah for common core.
