This is a very divisive article, and — probably as intended — it is making some people mad (see the comments).

But there is an issue here. Yes, as many commenters have pointed out, the Right was pretty horrendous during the past eight years. Nevertheless, the reaction to Trump has been hysterical — truly so. And the Left has been pretty arrogant, and has been trying to force its values on all of America.

Trump represents a backlash. The Left would do well to try to understand the reasons for that backlash, instead of dismissing it as “hillbilly America” — because it is more than that.
