The Planet’s Most Destructive: The Climate Culprit 100

Climate Culprits
10 min readNov 4, 2019

71% of climate emissions are caused by just 100 companies.
Here are the CEOs of 100 leading polluters.

While everyone is implored to change lightbulbs, these people are responsible for the organizations that create the most significant emissions in the world.

They also could be the ones to change course. The few humans in history to hold the planet’s future in their hands.

Some have made constructive steps. There’s so much more to do.
Their challenge: get to Net Zero by 2030.

This list is based on the work of the Political Economy Research Institute at University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

“Some people say that the climate crisis is something that we all have created. But that is not true. Because if everyone is guilty, then no one is to blame.

And someone is to blame.

Some people, some companies, some decision makers in particular have known exactly what priceless values they have been sacrificing to continue making unimaginable amounts of money. And many of you here belong to that group of people”

— Greta Thunberg
