Traveling to LA

Today was a long day. A normal drive to LA takes maybe 5–6 hours. We were on the road for at least 8.

This is because our group was traveling in a Tesla. Normally, we would be able to do the trip with charging in about 7 and a half hours. When we charged at the new Kettleman City supercharging station, we didn’t realize that the supercharger was only pumping at 80 miles per hour. Moving the car to a different charger meant we were able to finish charging at 200 miles per hour.

Lesson learned. Always check to make sure the Tesla is charging quickly before leaving the car to do other things.
