Bellevue is a city in Jackson County, Iowa, United States. The population was 4,641 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Jackson County. Bellevue is part of the Bellevue Community School District.

Bellevue is part of the Quad Cities metropolitan area, which includes the cities of Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa, and Rock Island, Moline and East Moline in Illinois.

The city of Bellevue was founded on July 4, 1847, by Dr. William H.H. Richardson, a native of Massachusetts. He named the city after his hometown of Bellevue, Ohio. Dr. Richardson was a man of great vision and energy, and was instrumental in the development of Bellevue and Jackson County. He served as the first mayor of Bellevue, and was also the county’s first physician and surgeon.

The city of Bellevue is located on a beautiful bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. The riverfront has been developed into a park with a walking trail, picnic areas and a band shell. The city also has a nine-hole golf course, a skate park and several tennis courts.

The Bellevue Community School District serves the city of Bellevue and the surrounding communities. The district has three elementary schools, a middle school and a high school.

Bellevue’s Parks and Recreation:

Bellevue is well known for its parks and recreation facilities. There are 28 different parks within the city limits, totaling nearly 300 acres of parkland. The city also has an extensive system of recreation trails, totaling over 10 miles in length. Bellevue is home to two public golf courses, a municipal swimming pool, and an ice arena.

The city’s parks department oversees all of the parks and recreation facilities within the city. The department is responsible for the maintenance of the parks and facilities, as well as providing programming and events for the community. The parks department offers a wide variety of programs for all ages, ranging from sports leagues to art classes.

The Bellevue Parks and Recreation Department is an active partner in the Iowa Statewide Urban Assessment Partnership (USUAP). The USUAP is a collaborative effort between local government agencies, state agencies, and universities to provide comprehensive data and analysis on the condition of urban infrastructure. Bellevue has participated in the USUAP since its inception in 2008.

In 2016, Bellevue was named the number one city in Iowa for parks and recreation by the Iowa Park and Recreation Association. This was the third time in four years that Bellevue had received this distinction.
