This article demonstrates a lack of understanding of history and a lack of understanding of the Constitution. Just replace the 2nd Amendment with any of the other amendments. Should we only have the right of free speech if we jump through hoops and only agree to say things that won’t hurt anybody else’s feelings? Should we only be able to gather together in a group after we go through extensive bureacracy to ensure we’re not going to frighten or upset anyone?

Free speech is a right so we can criticize the government and speak out against it. Why? To avoid tyranny. The 2nd Amendment exists for the same reason. To avoid tyranny. It always amazes me how readily some people will give up their rights and freedoms for the facade of safety.
