Sunday School

After attending Catholic school for nearly nine years and taking classes on religion, I thought I was done. I was wrong since I was not confirmed during my high school years at a Catholic school. Now I have to take time to attend a confirmation class at a local church.

Confirmation is a rite of initiation in several Christian denominations, normally carried out through anointing, the laying on of hands, and prayer, for the purpose of bestowing the Gift of the Holy Spirit. Confirmation is seen as the sealing of the covenant created in Holy Baptism. This is basically the next step for teenagers moving up in the Catholic Church community.

Since I still live at home, my mom gave me no say in whether or not I want to take the class. For the next five months I have to go to the class twice a month for an hour and a half each time. The class didn't seem that bad until I actually went the first day. The class is made up of either sophomores or juniors. None of them are respectful of anything or anyone and make the class a diaster. Waiting until senior year to get confirmed makes you the oldest kid in the class. I now regret not getting confirmed while attending my old school.
