Such a beautiful sentiment. I think we’ve lost the ability to really connect with each other except in rare circumstances, and that makes me sad. I certainly would not have had a successful career if one of the Vice Presidents at my university hadn’t taken the time to talk with me and encourage me. She didn’t have to do that, but it made all the difference in the world to me. With all of us leading busy lives, it’s easy to lose that sense of commitment to one another, but I’m trying to get that back, especially as I look at what I want my kids to learn and how I hope they’ll be treated in the world.

Sometimes it’s just easier to retreat into our own lives and lose sight of the people around us. But life gains such richness when we take those few minutes to connect. Thanks for reminding me of that.
