Saw my first instance of this within 24 hours of reading this article. A freebooted HowToBasic video that had garnered “30 million” “views” (by Facebook’s metrics), and 325,000 shares beyond the trunk of the freebooted tree.
What a fiasco. I’m not a content creator, but I watch YouTube all day as my television, and this is very upsetting to me. Thanks for informing us about the practice in a platform outside of YouTube videos themselves, so that it won’t get suppressed on Facebook when I share it!
I will do my part to inform the author and the freebooter and my friends whenever I spot this moving forward.
