Your soul on Fire

A Poem

People are hell.
When we feel denied or misled
the soul burst into flames;
or at least, that’s what someone said.

Things we lose in the fire.
Taken hostage by the insatiable urge.
We be the monsters
that our children have heard
shattering glass in the middle of the night.
Yes, we become the monsters
our children, warned us about.

All it takes,
nowadays,
is, for that one thing
to send us over the edge.

Losing ourselves to finding ourselves
engaged in the horror instead.
We can easily become a living nightmare
the ones having out- of- body experiences
embracing the disorder.

Some of us walk around like blunt objects,
overwhelmed and seeing red.
Even the sane, are drifting
into fits of fury;
because
heavy…
