Installing CouchCMS on Cloudways
CouchCMS is a simple and open source content management system for designers. The unique premise of the CouchCMS is that the users do not require any technical knowledge of PHP for implementing and using the CMS. The website developer just need to insert several XHTML tags into a HTML/CSS template and it is CMS enabled in minutes.
CouchCMS has become an important player in the CMS landscape. The feature set of the CMS include integrated RSS feeds, forms, custom pages and PayPal integration.
I will now demonstrate how to install CouchCMS on your Cloudways server. This is a multistage process that involves downloading and installing the software.
Launch PHP Application on Cloudways Managed Server
The first stage of the process is to get the CouchCMS files from the official website.
Go to the official website and download the zip archive. Extract the files and then sign into the Cloudways account. Once logged in, add a new application.
You will be redirect to Application Credential page. On this page, there are three choice to make:
- The application.
- Name of the app.
- Select the project.
Go to Select Application and select PHP STACK. Next, enter the the names of the application and the project (these would be different in your case). Finally! click the ADD APPLICATION button.
To verify the app, go to the Application area and verify the app.
Initiate Preinstall CouchCMS Setup
Go to the Cloudways server and click the LAUNCH SSH TERMINAL. This will launch the terminal. Sign in with the username and password available in the Master Credential page. Copy the credentials and then paste them in the terminal. Press Enter.
Next, go to public_html folder of the application and install CouchCMS.
First, unzip master.zip file for using the unzip command
This will unzip all the files in the folder.
Now, go to CouchCMS-master/couch folder and rename config example.php to config.php.
Next, open config.php and add the database credentials.
The credentials for database are available in the Access Detail section of the Application Management page.
The stage is now set for launching the application installation process. Copy the URL of the application and paste it in the browser. You just need to add the path of the folder of the CouchCMS files.
Once launched, the page will be redirected to the installation page of the CouchCMS. You will see a form where you enter user credentials (username, email and password). Once done, hit Enter.
Once the installation finishes, you will see the success message.
Click the login link and enter the credentials. Upon successful validation, you will gain access to the CMS.
Congratulations, CouchCMS is now successfully installed on your Cloudways server.
