Errrm… awkward.

This evening at a local brewery I got into a conversation with some solid guys about awkward situations and how we mostly wish all of them would never have happened. I, however, was a voice advocating for embracing the awkward. Face it, we’ll all have awkward situations, right? I feel like I have a new awkward story to tell every day. So why feel so negatively about something that is so prevalent in life? I think it should be more important for us to learn to embrace and find joy in the awkward moments of life and of our friends because ultimately it’s what makes our friends who they are and what makes our life a little goofy.

I, for one, have never been a story teller and find many of my awkward moments have stemmed from this. As much as I wish I could capture attention and spin stories eloquently, it’s not me. I start speaking and I’m a bundle of awkward. But I’ve found that as I’ve accepted this fact, I am so much more content with my awkward story telling abilities and the genuine conversation with people. Simply being with people and enjoying them and all of their awkward quirks, as well as mine, is one of the most genuine ways to get to know people. It’s an experience I thoroughly enjoy.
