Posters are the combination of notices, advertisements and invitations. Therefore poster writing should be done with utmost care. Posters are generally read from a distance so, as far as possible, the letters in the poster must be big.

Posters may be in the form of large notices put u on walls or notice-boards. A large number of people are attracted by colourful, attractive and tempting posters. Posters influence their minds and fire their imagination.

You may have seen cinema posters and posters of political parties generally cover up the city walls adding to colour and life in big cities. Avoid filling many details in posters. Only very important information should be highlighted in it.

Tips for Poster Writing Class 11/12

  • As stated above posters are the combination of notices, advertisements and invitations. Hence the poster must recreate and recapture the basic moods and styles of all these three means of communication.
  • It should be designed in a way so that it can be put up at a public place. A poster must catch the attention of the passers-by.
  • Great designs and decorative work are two important features of good posters.
  • As the posters are put up on public places and generally read from distance hence the letters used in the poster must be bigger than other such writings. Use bold and capital letters.
  • Excessive details are not required in a poster. Only important points should be highlighted through catchy phrases, slogans or tempting and inviting language.
