Wacoinda vs Marvel by Latiara Laird

What is Wacoinda do you ask? It is a group currently based of Facebook founded by Lamar Wilson and Lafe Taylor. It’s focus is the eradication of economic oppression through the use of technology, love, and collaboration. The goal is to level the playing field so that we can all advance economically. The group is currently 33K strong and one of the fastest growing black economic groups on Facebook.

I was hesitant about writing an article about Wacoinda because I feel it’s impossible to convey not only the sense of community there, but the daily impact the group has on it’s members. I can’t speak for everyone, but I personally have gained a lifetime of knowledge with the short time the group has existed. Financial literacy wasn’t something that I learned in school or was taught by my parents. Most of what I know today is from what I’ve learned in Wacoinda. One of the many advantages of being a member of the group is the education you’ll gain on topic like credit management, investing, business startups from start to finish, investing in cryptocurrencies and learning about the groundbreaking technology of the Blockchain. Amazingly, everything I’ve learned this far has been absolutely FREE!

There is so much knowledge flowing through the group at any given time that you can’t help but to level up and strive for something more. There are so many influential members who regularly bring a wealth of information. When and if you decide to join look for a few names in particular: Vanessa Braxton. She is a heavy hitter. She’s the CEO of Black Momma Teas & Cafes who just closed a PRE-ICO for her company. Every Wacoindan had the opportunity to be a part of this momentous occasion. Mrs. Braxton is constantly bring information to the group that contributes to the economic advancement of anyone in earshot. She was just featured in Black Enterprise magazine, along with our very own Lamar Wilson and Lafe Taylor. Lamont Adair and Aking Risen keeps us educated on the latest in the stock market and cryptocurrency. Latrice Coleman has schooled us all on group economics and is living proof that it does work if you trust and stick with the process. Another name you probably have heard before is Angel Rich. She’s the author of “History of the Black Dollar” and developer of the app Credit Stacker. The list goes on.

Being a part of Wacoinda has truly been a blessing. I feel as if I bumped into my long lost family. In every instance in meeting members of the group, it’s such an easy experience. It’s as if we’ve somehow met before and we’re just catching up on old times. When I found out a couple of weeks ago that Disney’s Marvel filed for an extension on Wacoinda’s trademark application, I must say I was taken aback. What we have here is no fictional Wakanda. What we have here is very real and I have seen and experienced it firsthand. We take care of each other in times of need and we speak love and light into the lives of those who may be experiencing a moment of darkness. We’re creating a future where no one gets left behind. In the event that Disney decides to oppose Wacoinda’s pending trademark for the Wacoinda name, they won’t be just coming after a Facebook group. They’ll be coming after a family and more importantly, our family name. It is our hope that Disney’s Marvel will stand down, but if not, we won’t go quietly into the night. #WEAREWACOINDA #IAMWACOINDA #WACOINDATOGETHER

My name is Latiara Laird. You can find me in the group to address any questions or concerns you may have. We look forward to meeting you.

On a closing note, I have a lot of people ask if the group is just for African Americans and the answer to that is NO. It’s a fact that the group is predominantly African American, BUT we are an ALL-INCLUSIVE group. As long as you’re supporting the collective cause, we welcome you with love because we’re stronger together, no matter the shade of our skin.
