It’s still around. Look around on facebook and you’ll see the occasional aspirant omnicidal maniac wishing death upon our whole species in the name of ‘the environment’. Fortunately the various governments of our world did a fine job of smashing these lunatics’ organizational infrastructure a long time ago; the US did so while preserving the rights of these criminals. They even got free healthcare for them!

Worryingly, the mental institutions they were sent to have been closing, resulting in some of these freaks ending up back on the street, but there’s two self-correcting mechanism in place now. One subtype is thoroughly indoctrinated into socialist ideology, which just turns them into internet SJW keyboard warriors. In other words, dogmatically they are completely incapable of obtaining organizational capacity and resources to launch more attacks. They’re obnoxious, but harmless. Voting their candidate into office would require them to spend ‘spoons’ they don’t have and voting rights that were revoked for felony convictions. If encountered, be kind. They’re really quite pitiable. If you’re into religion, figure out whatever diety lords over alms to the wastrels and indulge in self righteous preaching/giving to them.

The rest are so zapped out of their minds on heavy doses of strong antipsychotics they can barely move, let alone construct bombs. Some of these sorts have found ways to re-integrate into society through community mental health programs, and live peacefully with their neighbors. Their delusions of committing multiple genocides are well contained by Zyprexa and Seroquel; the manufacturers of these drugs reap huge profits from the taxpayer as Medicaid typically pays for their prescriptions (but that’s a whole other issue).

Other nations just exterminated the infestation. Since it’s deterred harshly and investigated vigorously (you know full well how paranoid our government is about ‘terrorism’ these days) it’s unlikely these bond-villain wannabes are going to become a serious threat. And that’s a very good thing. True environmentalism could be turned into a pariah if violence and destruction became its tools. Which would, really, negate the entire point wouldn’t it?
