Madam Secretary, I appreciate this response, and I’m proud of you for owning up to what was clearly a very hurtful mistake.

Although I feel you may be holding back out of respect because Nancy Reagan has just been buried, I would be remiss not to point out that the Reagans intentionally ignored the deaths of tens of thousands of folks in the LGBTQ community. Their actions were irresponsible at best and criminal at worst.

Their conduct was horrific and unconscionable, and that story needs to be told, again and again, not only for the justice of those who suffered at their hands but to prevent future American leadership from ever doing something like this again.
