Isn’t a pivot where you change directions but have the same or a similar goal, like PayPal giving up on the Palm Pilot but still finding a way to exchange money digitally? This sounds like a whole new ballgame, maybe with the same players and the same pot of money, but in a completely different market with different technology. It’s a new business, not a pivot. Granted, they weren’t going to win the old game and seem to be thriving in the new game. But why call it a pivot?
