Until There is No Question

They say that named too early, a thing can be misshapen Taken from its path it can contort and force to straighten Or curved in ways not meant to be, bent and wiggled so Or over-watched and prodded, like hurried, rising dough.

It’s far too human, and so enticing, to peek at destinations To offer life our scripts and plots and mortal complications The one who can just let unfold desire, pain and outcome Is one who’s learned to offer every fire and rain a welcome.

This doesn’t mean the hopeful ones just sit and wait for magic What is would never manifest and that would be quite tragic This caution’s point is only to expand, awake, surrender Despite pragmatic overtones, romance conveys its splendor.

If lovers’ fates, as such we’ve known, result in later dangers That whispered words and fervent touch portends our role as strangers Then let’s be friends a hundred times, there’ll be a hundred more Until there is no question, this our paths entwined us for.
