Shaun Kenny-Dowall acquitted of DV charge

In light of the recent acquittal of Sydney Roosters star Shaun Kenny-Dowall from a domestic violence charge by his ex-partner Nova Peris, magistrate Gregory Grogin has labelled her as an “unreliable” and “calculating” witness according to The Daily Telegraph.

A definitive element of this ruling was that Ms Peris unsuccessfully asked the Sydney Roosters for a month’s income, temporary accommodation and use of a car after the relationship ended. These actions where Peris was more interested in gaining prize rather than publicly seeking out the police during and after the relationship. Were complemented by the photos of injuries sustained by Ms Peris to have been insufficient evidence.

This case is a demonstration of how domestic violence cases are largely based on evidence of the relationship and mannerisms of the couple.

Kenny-Dowall has gained the full support of the NRL and is expected to be pitted against South Sydney Rabbitohs in the Roosters opening match of 2016 on Sunday
