Maximizing urban production to put nutritious whole food in easy reach of urban residents, and giving them an opportunity to participate in the food economy as something other than consumers, is precisely what’s needed to balance the diets and food economics of vulnerable people in urban centers.

Can it scale? Depends on a lot of things from your definition of “scale” to the limits of your imagination about how agriculture can work. And in either case, nirvana fallacies have never stopped an idea whose time has come.

So we’ll see. I may fail, but at least I tried. Do you have a better idea that requires mine to not exist?
