Go For Culture Add, Not Culture Fit

In regards to the comments here where people say to not focus on company culture/diversity but rather the best candidate, the problem is if people have a selection of best candidates they are likely to select the same type of people over and over again which in essence does nothing for the company culture itself. I suppose some people would not mind spending 8–10 hours working towards a common goal daily with a bunch of clones, but is that truly healthy? Is it truly reflective of the real world?
