What is solid propellant?

Solid propellant is a fuel used in rocket and missile propulsion systems that has the ability to directly convert chemical energy into kinetic energy. It is a premixed solid chemical that, once ignited, can continue to burn to produce a large amount of high-temperature and high-pressure gas, which is ejected through a nozzle, thereby generating thrust to propel the rocket or missile forward.
