You have possibly already come across the term affiliate links. They are commonly used in blogs and websites to promote products. In this article, I will share what an affiliate link is and whether they are allowed to be used in your Medium articles.

What is an affiliate link?

The user who is promoting a website/link/product is known as the affiliate and the destination the link takes you to is referred to as the merchant’s/advertisers website.

An affiliate link is a URL that contains a unique user ID and it is often hyperlinked. If a user clicks on the URL it will take them to a third-party website. This will be the merchant that the affiliate has partnered with and is directing traffic towards their website and products with the aim of earning a commission.
