The Crazy Lady in the Driveway

Be the ultimate party planner in your life

Imagine this: You’re throwing a party and you have 50 confirmed guests. You’re very excited.

The day of the party you get everything ready, you put balloons on the mail box and then wait near the door to welcome people as they arrive.

The party starts at 7pm but by 8pm only a few guests have trickled in. Confused as to why so few people are showing up you ask the guests that have arrived if there were an traffic issues on route.

“Nope, no traffic problems, but,” they say, “there is a crazy lady in the driveway, yelling at people.”
You go outside and at the end of the driveway, standing next to the mailbox with your pretty balloons is a woman, who looks exactly like you. She is yelling at people who arrive for the party.

She is saying things like,
“Don’t go inside.”
“Turn around, don’t go in.”
“It’s a mistake. You’re not really wanted.”
“You’re not pretty enough.”
You dash over to this imposter, grab her arm and drag her away from the mailbox, effectively getting her away from stopping any more guests from coming to the party.
“ What the hell are you doing?” You ask her, incredulous?
She answers, just as incredulous, “Protecting you, dummy! You can’t handle this kind of party. You’re not ready. You need me to make sure you don’t embarrass yourself, do something stupid or get ahead of yourself.”

There is a crazy lady in your head who intercepts positive healthy thoughts and tries to get rid of them. She is the voice that creates doubts, unhealthy irrational fear and judgement. This crazy lady will do everything in her power to undermine your efforts to create a happy and good life, under the guise of protecting you.

This crazy lady is terribly afraid of you becoming a bigger brighter version of yourself. Streamers and balloons scare the crap out of her.

Fortunately there is also another voice. This voice is often drowned out by the maniacal noise of the crazy lady. This voice believes in you. This voice knows the truth of who you are and what you are capable of becoming in life.

If your life feels like a series of failed parties, big ideas that never seem to get off the ground, dreams that only get half way, balloons sagging on the ground, it’s time to find and confront the crazy lady in the driveway. When you can find her a new position in your life, one where you actually need protection, all of your creative ideas and dreams can come to the party and you can build a life you come to love.
