While there are several candidates running for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th district, I am supporting Mitchell Cobert. I have had the pleasure of knowing Mitchell and his family for almost 30 years. I don’t know anyone else with his intelligence, integrity, empathy and honesty.

Mitchell’s background as an assistant attorney general in New York and as a securities lawyer where he fights against the large brokers and Wall Street firms for the rights of the victims of securities fraud, will be useful when he fights for the needs of the country and the citizens of New Jersey in Congress. He won’t back down but he also will find the paths necessary to allow both sides of the aisle to come to a common consensus to get legislation passed.

His strong stance against gun violence, protecting the people of this country, by supporting a total ban on assault weapons is a key component of his platform. We can’t sit back and have any more students hurt or killed by someone using an assault weapon. Student’s should not be afraid of what may happen to them at school.

Mitchell has worked to protect the rights of the disabled and was a member of an ethics committee at ARC. He is a past president of the Morris County Bar Foundation which sponsors a program for battered women and conducts legal clinics for various groups of people including veterans, immigrants and working families. He will continue to fight for immigrants, disabled and those who are less well off financially.

Mitchell Cobert has my vote not because he is a friend but because of his stance on the issues and his character and traits that will enable him to represent the citizens of the 11th District.
