Jordan Bell, ‘from GSW’ Signs With Indiana
Local media “Hoop’s Hype” said on the 24th (Korea Standard Time), “The Indiana Pacers signed a training camp contract with Jordan Bell.”
A training camp contract is a contract in the form of being invited to a training camp to train together and present a formal contract when they perform well, rather than registering on the NBA’s first-team roster. In other words, if Bell is to join the NBA roster, his performance in training camp is important.
Bell was drafted by the Chicago Bulls with the 38th pick in the second round in 2017 and was immediately traded to the Golden State Warriors. At that time, Bell received attention for his style similar to that of Golden State senior Draymond Green. Green was from the same second round as Green, an under-sized big man, and a strong defense and versatile evaluation.
Unlike Green, however, Bell rarely established himself on the NBA stage. Golden State, joined by Bell, was a strong team that Kevin Durant joined and was regarded as the best team in NBA history, including Green, Stephen Curry, and Clay Thompson. Bell didn’t have many chances in this team. In the 2017–2018 season, Bell played an average of 14.2 minutes and played not bad, but was not impressive.
Eventually, Bell left the Golden State and became a journeyman. After leaving the Washington Wizards for the Memphis Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves, he returned to Golden State but was released quickly and played for the Chicago Bulls for a while. Bell, who played in the G League rather than the NBA stage, then signed with the Chinese CBA team Guangzhou Long Lions for the 2022–2023 season, leaving the U.S. stage and playing in the Asian League.
And ahead of the 2023–2024 season, he signed with Indiana to try again on the NBA stage. It is a bell that once attracted attention as the “second green.” Currently, it is difficult to find a team that needs him.
