How to Start the Year Right
Don’t let another year sneak up on you. It’s high time that you kickstart the year and take charge of everything that is going on with your life.
Starting off the year on the right foot can indeed make a difference. So, to guide you and keep you on track until the next few months, we’ve listed a few tips for you. Feel free to check them off as you accomplish them.

1. Take a look back at the past year.
Look back to everything that has happened last year and learn to appreciate them. Answer a few questions like the following:
- What did I do to improve my life?

- How is my relationship with everybody?
- Did I get rid of something in my life that made me happier today?
- Is there any task or thing you wish you had given more time for?
Have a journal to keep track of these questions and your responses. Every year, make it a habit to do this. It should help you set better goals for the upcoming year.
2. Always finish what you have started.
Are there any errands or projects left undone or incomplete? If yes, do them now to give way to new tasks.
Keeping these tasks and errands around won’t do any good for you. They only add up to your burden and you might end up wasting a couple of hours about something that can be done in just a few minutes. Remove them from your to-do list to ensure you have a fresh start.
3. Set realistic goals.
Yes, there is nothing wrong with dreaming high. But if you aim to accomplish a lot in your life, you have to be realistic and set attainable goals. You have to turn your dream into something that can be accomplished before it becomes a reality.
To make it easier for you, break down your goals into milestones. For instance, if you want to stay in shape, what actions do you have to take? Do you need to get rid of unhealthy ingredients in your pantry and welcome organic products like extra virgin coconut oil and honey? Do you have to enroll yourself in a yoga class or attend gym sessions at least once a week? Once you have broken them down into milestones, start working towards accomplishing each one of them.
4. Focus on the things you want.
At this point, ask yourself what your whole dream is all about. What will happen if you reach your dream? What changes in your life do you expect? Who will be with you when you accomplish your dream?
Questions like these will help you determine what kind of life you will be living. They will also give you some hints on how you can achieve your dream. For instance, if you see yourself strutting the stages of Hollywood, then ask yourself what exactly you are doing to be where you want to be. Rearrange your priorities. Eat right. Work on your figure. Attend workshops. These tips should help you start.
5. Make yourself a priority.
Before the year ends, make sure you have determined what you really want. And then, make yourself a priority. Believe us, the old saying is true. It is impossible to help others until you help yourself.
