Agile Methodologies in Mobile App Development
A shift from the traditional Project Development methodology. As the name indicates, it accommodates unpredictability which happens almost every other day during the course of Project Development. It gives the ease of adapting to situations as per demand rather than a rigid development pattern. Some of the reasons why I prefer Agile over any other project development method are outlined below
Quick to Market:
Fixed schedule sprints of 2 to 3 weeks ensure quick delivery of planned milestones and features. Agile Teams are generally adaptive which in turn facilitates getting the product in the market at regular intervals thereby increasing efficiency
Quality:
In agile development, Testing is integrated as a part of the process; that is it happens throughout the project development life cycle rather than as a separate phase. So products would be regularly subject to review which in turn helps shaping the product quality during the course of development itself.
Risk Mitigation:
Through continuous delivery of features, agile provides an opportunity to identify risks early and take subsequent action. With constant feedback and quality check throughout the phase of development, areas of glitches are easily identified and resolved at each level. Such progressive development ensures mitigation of risks at every possible opportunity thereby facilitating a viable product.
Flexibility:
This is the utmost advantage you get out of moving agile. It is highly necessary that we stick onto and be focused on delivering the features that have been already agreed upon. However as the project progresses, requirements tend to get refined and changes/enhancements would be needed from time to time. Agile gives us an option to plan this in next iteration making sure the changes can be implemented in a few weeks
Increased Productivity:
Agile ensures good quality products with swift turnaround time thereby increasing efficiency. This coupled with quick time to market drastically improves productivity.
Let us not get stuck up with one project. Let’s get agile and get more products live!!!
