My experience on Andela’s boot-camp so far… DAY 5

Learning and Working in Andela

Today, is the fifth day of my self-learning journey into software development courtesy of Andela. It has not been an easy ride for me. Self-learning is not as easy as I thought it would be. I have been receiving a lot of feedback from my facilitator assistant about areas I need to improve upon and I am seriously working on them. Today has been very eventful for me. I am ready to do all it takes to become a world class developer through Andela.

Firstly, we were asked to solve more problems on Andelabs. A particular algorithm took me a while to answer and I had to seek out help. I have been trying to wrap my head around a concept I need to work with and I have not made any head way. So, I had to talk with some of my fellow boot-campers and also my facilitators who were studying and working remotely too. They offered suggestions that I would not have had. I tried a few suggestion and it was helpful.

Secondly, we were asked to design a simple User Interface using only HTML and CSS. I thought i knew CSS(using bootstrap and material design). I had used bootstrap to design a couple of mini-websites. I have also used Materialize CSS to design a book library application built with Flask but I have not used vanilla CSS to build a website from scratch. I had to dig and study some css styling guide to be able to pull off this task.

Andela is truly a place of awesomeness. They will eventually bring out the best in you. You have to be at the very top of your game to become a world class developer and I am getting there gradually.

So far I would say it has been a rewarding experience and I am looking forward to the next phase. Your feedback is highly appreciated. Feel free to drop comments about my writing skill and what I need to improve upon.
