Australia’s 1st Nationally Accredited Coding Bootcamp to Empower Future Technology Workforce
Coder Factory Academy (CFA) — a joint venture between Coder Factory and the Academy of Information Technology (AIT) — today announced the launch of Australia’s first Silicon Valley style coding bootcamp in Australia, where students will attain a nationally accredited tertiary qualification and have the option of accessing VET FEE-HELP tuition loans.
Mr Raman Nambiar, CFA’s newly appointed Managing Director, said:
“Coding bootcamps are a proven education model in the United State of America, and are extremely compelling due to their focused learning approach and career opportunities. I am excited to be launching Coder Factory Academy with AIT, and helping Australia’s untapped coding talent pool break into the emerging tech scene in Australia.
I am delighted to have an opportunity to bring my personal experience of running successful coding boot camps in the USA to Australia, and look forward to providing Coder Factory Academy students the opportunity to be introduced to our partner employer networks in the USA and beyond.”
According to The Deloitte Access Economics report, released in June 2015, Australia is currently facing a severe shortage within the IT and programming sector. “The rapidly growing digital economy means that ICT skills will play an increasingly important role in future economic growth,” key findings showed. By 2020, Deloitte estimates there will be 100,000 new ICT jobs that need to be filled.
Mr Peter Argent, Academic Director of CFA, said:
“The cost of delivering cutting edge coding courses by technology experts has been prohibitive to their growth in Australia. By combining the proven bootcamp model with the Australian Registered Training Organisation framework, we can make coding accessible to Australians seeking to break into the evolving tech scene.
Although there are a number of computer programming and technology education providers in Australia, none currently delivers hands-on project-based learning that demystifies technology and helps students build their skills using a nationally accredited education methodology.”
Mr Glenn Elith, Executive Director of the Academy of Information Technology, said:
“Coder Factory Academy is an exciting expansion of our IT course range. Learning coding is fast becoming an educational imperative in Australia for school students and adults wishing to work in the digital innovation economy. AIT is launching Coder Factory Academy to provide education that inspires people to pursue digital literacy and take advantage of seismic changes in the global economy.”
Coder Factory Academy will begin its first student intake in Sydney in March 2016. It plans to expand into Melbourne, Brisbane, and a number of overseas locations.
