Great piece, but his rage at Day in ‘Lover Come Back’ is a good example of reverse bubble thinking. In fact, that film is insanely prescient, about how the advertising and marketing vultures will sell us all down the river, empty the culture out completely, to make a quick buck. Just read an article summarizing the constrasting visions of Orwell and Huxley, saying Huxley was right.

It’s usually an error to assume that the message of the other is always straight and exclusionary. And the converse is often true: that the self-professed revolutionary is ultimately still in the service of the status quo.
